5K for JK

I’ve known Jess Krauser for ten plus years now. As neighbors, our paths crossed, but we really got to know one another while navigating parenthood. Her twins are the same age as my oldest. In the early days, we would cheer on our guys at the ball-field and ponder what to bring for elementary class parties, now it’s conversations about family and making sense of the middle school landscape. When I had my twins, I remember Jess made the most amazing pasta for us and gifted me books that helped her find her footing with raising twins.

Jess was diagnosed with early onset Parkinson’s a few years ago and is on a mission to raise awareness and find comfort for families just like her’s who are given this diagnosis. Not only has Jess established 5K for JK, but she has created The First Step box, a podcast called The Secret Life of Parkinson’s and has recently partnered with Cheryl Krueger from C. Krueger Gourmet’s Cookies, also a person living with Parkinson’s, to continue to spread awareness.

When Jess called and asked if I would utilize my photography skills to document not only her 5K for JK event, but also An Evening of Possibilities event, there was zero hesitation - anything for this amazing woman, who is a true inspiration!
